Will McBain, Associate Director, Arup

Will McBain has over 22 years’ experience in the field of water and environmental management, with a focus on flood resilience and climate change adaptation.

He is Arup’s water business lead in this area for the UK, Middle East and Africa. He was lead editor of the living draft practice guide to Planning Policy Statement 25 (PPS25) ‘Development and flood risk’ and principal author of CIRIA Publication 688 ‘Flood resilience and resistance for critical infrastructure’.

Will was a member of the Operational Framework Management Team from 2005 to 2012 helping to coordinate delivery of the Environment Agency’s national capital programme.

Will is currently advising various UK cities and infrastructure operators on flood resilience and climate change adaptation issues, most notably Sheffield City Council and HS2 Ltd.
