  • New tools to help LLFA’s with consenting, designing and  delivering NFM

Cambridgeshire County Council and the Rivers Trust has been working together to prepare guidance and training to assist Lead Local Flood Authorities (LLFAs) with Land Drainage Act 1991 consenting of both NFM and water environment improvement schemes. As the number of NFM projects increases it is important that LLFA fully understand how to assess the flood risk benefits of such schemes and what level of information to request for ordinary watercourse consent applications. The presentation will also explain the CaBa Natural Flood Management Toolbox and its seven steps to developing an NFM scheme. Finally the presenters will use examples from East Anglia of how the Environment Agency’s new ‘Working with Natural Processes Evidence Base’ can be applied to assist RMAs with local projects.
