How to build a collaborative team in 8 weeks and succeed
"The delivery of successful flood risk management teams relies on successful collaborative working. To ensure delivery of the target of 300,000 homes better protected by 2021, the Environment Agency has developed seven Programme Delivery Units (PDUs). The PDU is a collaborative environment made up of representatives from the Environment Agency and supply chain partners (consultants and contractors). The aim of the PDUs is to secure and strengthen the delivery of the capital programme and develop a pipeline of projects for the future.
During the first eight weeks of the PDUs, the teams were tasked with optimising the capital programme. This involved working together as a newly formed team to work with teams across the Environment Agency to learn about over 200 capital schemes to identify project linkages, acceleration opportunities and efficiencies in delivery.
This presentation will explore how the Norming; Forming; Storming; Performing principles of team building work in pressurised collaborative environments. The successes of the PDU team to date will be celebrated along with an honest exploration of the ideal versus the reality and key challenges that were overcome in establishing a truly collaborative teamBack to all speakers
