The National Flood School Speaking On: Day 1 (20th March) Session: Working with communities: coping with risk
  • Planning to Survive

Disaster pre-planning helps to prepare property owners and businesses for the aftermath of a flood. The impact of flood damage on local business properties, homes and public buildings is often underestimated. Drawing on the experience of hurricane storm damage in the USA and surge events in the UK we can educate and set realistic expectations for the recovery path. The impact on personal health and well-being, the psychological and emotional issues are often overlooked and thus we can we use this valuable tool and historical information to improve resilience and generate more favourable outcomes.
