  • Climate Justice: developing the future UK agenda for action

Climate change has the potential to increase inequalities and disadvantage in the UK. Practitioners who are working on climate change or with vulnerable people have a key role to play in responding. Climate Just is a web-site developed in partnership by the University of Manchester, Environment Agency and the Joseph Rowntree Foundation to enable users to identify who is most socially vulnerable to climate impacts, why that is, where they are and what action can be taken to make a difference.

At the core of the site is evidence to support how we can make local adaptation responses both effective and more socially responsible. The site is currently being updated and due to be re-launched in February 2018. The new resources include free access to finer scale data and findings from an exciting new UK-wide flood risk analysis project.

The success of this resource is due to the combination of flood risk, social vulnerability and heat exposure data to identify trends at a local scale. These datasets have never previously been combined, until now.

This presentation will demonstrate the site’s extensive free-to-access maps, case studies, evidence and other resources.
