  • Opportunities and challenges delivering coastal risk management projects in Wales

Welsh Government’s Coastal Risk Management Programme is presenting opportunities and challenges for delivering coastal risk management projects in Wales. Welsh Government are developing an innovative funding model to finance local authority borrowings complemented by 25% local contributions. Projects have been challenged to maximise wider benefits for the communities and environment, linked to the recently enacted Wellbeing of Future Generations Act - resulting in transformative proposals for infrastructure integrated with wider initiatives.

Robin will draw lessons from the experience of delivering outline business cases for six coastal risk management schemes across Wales, spanning five local authorities.
