Sophie Cox, Senior Communications Specialist, Defra

Sophie has worked for the Environment Agency as a Communications Specialist since 2015. Sophie’s permanent role is delivering local communications for the East Midlands area, however she is currently undertaking an assignment in the national Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management communications team working on a variety of projects. Prior to joining the Environment Agency, Sophie worked for three Local Authorities in communications and engagements roles focused around waste and recycling.

Sophie’s spare time is taken up with singing – both as a solo artist and as part of a 1940’s vocal harmony group. Sophie’s hobby has allowed her to perform at some fantastic venues including the Birmingham Symphony Hall, The National Memorial Arboretum and RAF Cosford where she had the honour of performing for WWII veterans at an Armed Forces Day celebration.
