Hannah Tankard, Programme Manager, Business in the Community
Hannah Tankard is a Programme Manager at Business in the Community. BITC is part of The Prince’s Responsible Business Network - an issues-led charity, helping to create a fairer society and a more sustainable future. Hannah’s role focuses on promoting practical steps that small and medium-sized business owners can make to improve their resilience to disruptions from floods and storms to cyber-attacks. In terms of Hannah's flood work, as well as being part of the Flood & Coast Advisory Committee, Hannah plays an active role in the Defra Property Flood Resilience Roundtable.
Prior to working for Business in the Community, Hannah was a Flood Risk Support Officer at the National Flood Forum. The National Flood Forum enables communities to work in partnership with multi-agencies to address their flood risk. Here Hannah directly supported communities across England and Wales who had experienced the trauma of flooding, including during the recovery process following the major floods of 2014 in the south of England and in 2015 across the north of England.
Hannah has an MA in Disasters, Adaptation and Development and has long been interested in how to mitigate the impacts of hazards on communities, especially for those most vulnerable in society.
