The presentation will cover how the EA prepare for incidents and our ambition to think big and act early. The presentation will outline the capabilities we have had to develop and how we have changed our behaviours to meet this aspiration. Including:

  • planning - from the formation of the Flood Forecasting Centre to more recently developing Major Incident Plans,
  • capability - equipment and logistics capabilities
  •  guidance - staff behaviours and supporting guidance our concept of operations and our Incident Management Strategy.

Finally the presentation will outline some of the challenges around Think Big Act Early including; consistent risk thresholds, response fatigue and working with partners.
