DClos Asset Review: A common effort to provide a uniform coastal asset dataset for Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly
The joint DCIoS Asset Review will provide a uniform dataset of coastal assets for Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, and strengthen the Environment Agency coastal strategic overview whilst supporting Risk Management Authorities (RMAs), Coastal Protection Authorities (CPAs) and other asset managers. Working to Coast Protection Act boundaries, this review will identify, record and assess formal defences, and 3rd party / de-facto assets that perform a flood defence and/or erosion function. This database includes information from the Agency's Asset Information Management System (AIMS) and BOXI tool, with assets' location, latest inspection date, condition, comments, element weightings etc. Data will be updated on site and maintained in JBA's Asset Coast database. Excellent partnership between the Agency, Teignbridge District Council, local RMAs and consultants, has already achieved significant progress towards the end goal of this project. The Asset Coast database now holds information for 2,000 assets from AIMS with RMAs data ready for future upload. Upon delivery of the asset registry to the Agency, the team will combine the information provided by the South West Coastal Monitoring Programme to present a holistic view of the coastline and to enable a better understanding of how defences perform during events.
