Property level resilience - a partnership approach to delivery

Property Flood Resilience (PFR) is an important part of our response to existing and predicted flood risk. Take-up of PFR in the UK is low and information and guidance is fragmented.. Code of Practice is being developed to deliver robust, authoritative and consolidated guidance that will provide a standardised approach for the delivery and management of PFR for existing (retrofit) and new developments (new build).The Code of Practice will take the form of: Code of Practice technical document & Guidance for property owners and local authorities, planners and developers  The project is engaging with a wide variety of members of the property flood resilience industry including liaising closely with insurers, local government, and the construction industry. Through these industries, the Code of Practice will consider the best ways to support home and business owners to improve their resilience.The Code of Practice will consolidate existing information and best practice, identify synergies between initiatives and signpost to further information.This is a partnership project, being managed by CIRIA and undertaken by a team led by BRE. Funding has been provided by Aviva, the Environment Agency, Scottish Government, Welsh Government, and the Department for Infrastructure, Northern Ireland.
