  • Sediment budget analysis:  practitioner guide

The Coastal Research Development and Dissemination (CoRDDi) framework identified the need to provide further understanding of sediment budgets to improve decision making in shoreline management planning. The concept of sediment budgets will become increasingly important as we seek to understand coastal evolution, through ongoing human intervention and natural system adaptation to climate change. To address this need a Practitioner Guide on Sediment Budget Analysis has been produced.  The Guide has been produced with funding from the Environment Agency/Defra Research and Development Budget and contribution in kind from ABPmer, Channel Coast Observatory and ch2m.  The Guide provides details on the need and best practice on Sediment Budget Analysis and should enable consistent and comparable assessment of sediment budgets from around the UK.  The Guide is an Environment Agency publication and will be published in January 2018.  The conference presents an excellent opportunity to present the objectives and contents of the Guide as part of the Environment Agency’s dissemination process.
