  •  Calderdale Flood Action Plan

The approach the Recovery team in Yorkshire took to producing the Calderdale Flood Action Plan in 2017. The plan was in response to a request by the Secretary of State following the catastrophic Boxing Day 2015 flooding in Calderdale. We felt that the process of producing a 25 year catchment plan for flood risk and resilience was an opportunity to create a new conversation with local communities and stakeholders and so ‘built’ the plan through an intensive consultation process throughout the summer of last year. My presentation will cover some of the innovative techniques we used, lessons learnt and how we continue to engage local communities after the document was published. This would answer Theme 1 – Shared ownership and action.
