Building a resilient future - infrastructure industry innovation portal (I3P)

A national technology roadmap that will support the growth and technical capabilities of the UK construction and infrastructure sector was launched recently at a the Construction Leadership Council (CLC).

The roadmap, produced by i3P (the Infrastructure Industry Innovation Platform) outlines the critical challenges which need to be addressed in order to meet the targets set in the Government's Construction 2025 Strategy including 33% lower costs; 50% faster delivery; 50% lower emissions, and a 50% increase in exports.Governed by client representatives from major infrastructure and construction projects and their supply chains, and managed by the Knowledge Transfer Network, i3P provides an opportunity for the industry to share ideas and innovations and commit to collaborative innovation projects. The roadmap articulates the key technologies that will enable the industry to address its challenges through three strategic themes: Digital Transformation, Manufacturing Construction, and Lifecycle Performance.

(I3P) is an innovation community that shares innovation across the infrastructure industry, promoting a culture of collaboration to positively impact both current and future major project delivery. The goal is to establish I3P as a primary driver for innovation in the UK infrastructure industry and to provide a mechanism for strategically directing innovation at an industry level.

Ian Hodge (EA) and Nick Sumption (Tideway) will co-present on the initiative and its roadmap development.
